Saquon Barkley, Geno Smith In Tight Race For CPOY
 | News Article by handicapperchic.com

Through 10 weeks of the NFL season, the two biggest surprises have been the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks.

Both of which many were counting out early on as last-place finishes in their divisions.

Fast track to the present day, both teams are well above a .500 record and staring at potential playoff runs.

Coming into play here for each team are two players that many didn’t think highly going into the year in Giants running back, Saquon Barkley and Seahawks quarterback, Geno Smith.

Both players are the frontrunners to win the Comeback Player of the Year with Barkley getting the slight edge.

At -115 odds, Barkley leads the way to win the CPOPY, and rightfully so. Barkley hasn’t played a fully healthy season since his rookie year in 2018, however, he has come out on fire in the 2022-23 campaign looking like he has never been injured.

He currently leads the league in rushing yards through the first 10 weeks at 931 and he has also added six touchdowns to that. He has shown that he is still one of the most elusive backs in the league despite his injuries with four games of 110 rushing yards.

The Giants success this season also plays a role in his odds and with no signs of slowing down for Barkley or the Giants, now could be one of the last times to get on his odds while they still hold some value.

Geno Smith is in a similar situation as Barkley but he has -110 odds to win the award. The former second-round pick has led the Seattle Seahawks to a 6-4 record which is good for first place in the NFC West.

This comes after Seattle opened with the longest odds to win the division in the preseason at 550 and 50000 odds to win the Super Bowl. Those odds have since shortened to 200 to win the division and 5000 to win the Super Bowl.

This major success has come behind Smith’s incredible play putting up 2,474 passing yards which are the fifth most in the league, and the fifth most touchdowns at 17.

He has done so very efficiently as well with only four interceptions to his name which has been good for the fourth-best QBR at 67.7 Smith has also dabbled in the run game this season with 218 rushing yards and a touchdown.

At this pace both players odds should be taken as one of them is bound to win the award given both their play and the team’s success.
